Worlds Apart Album Art (private commission)

Dimitri Masumbuko, one of my favorite people and a very talented singer/songwriter, asked me to create his album art. He requested a space theme, and I chose to use Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma.

To achieve this look, I:

  • Requested and received an inspiration board from Dimitri with Canva.

  • Scoured the Nasa Image Library for photos of galaxies, planets, and aliens (unfortunately, no aliens in the database… yet).

  • Created the first arrangement on Photoshop.

  • Watched the “Fish Night” episode of Love, Death, and Robots for inspiration (recommended by Dimitri).

  • Created line art of aliens and whales in Figma.

  • Used content aware fills, color adjustment layers, overlays and blur effects.

  • Arranged and rearranged in Photoshop and Illustrator. Utilized mentorships and peer reviews until the finished product was achieved.

Upon review, I believe that I could have utilized Illustrator for the linework for a more streamlined process. Learning the Figma UI was a bonus.
